The man felt at his face and hands for wounds and blood. Despite his past experiences with death, he was uncertain this instance wasn’t true death. Every cut and drop had felt more real than all his other injuries, despite the numbness that had smothered him. Traces of cuts and faded circular scars covered his body. He sighed and lay back to gaze at the ceiling.
